Closing The Gap

Here at Your Health Griffith we are committed to the health of our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community. Our practice participates in the Closing the Gap Program to better the health of our local community.

Closing the gap  is a strategy that aims to reduce Indigenous disadvantage with respect to life expectancy, child mortality, access to early childhood education, educational achievement, and employment outcomes.

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people get more chronic diseases and get them a lot earlier than non-Indigenous Australians. The government has introduced a new program to help many Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Australians better manage their own health, and especially chronic diseases. If you are eligible to enrol, the PIP Indigenous Health Incentive and PBS Co-payment measure (Close the Gap) will give you access to cheaper medicines and will assist you to better manage or prevent illness.

Your doctor will also offer you a preventative health check to help identify and treat any health problems you may have.

Talk to your doctor or our receptionists for more information and to find out if you meet the full eligibility criteria. Registration and Consent Forms can be found on our Forms page

Your Health Griffith would like to acknowledge and honour the elders – past, present, and emerging – of the Wiradjuri nation, the traditional custodians of the land Your Health Griffith is on. We also acknowledge our gratitude that we share this land today, our sorrow for the costs of that sharing, and our hope and belief that we can continue to move to a place of equity, justice, and partnership.
